Metwasi ' Best Jordanian Singer '

To artists, honorary awards are perhaps more important than monetary prizes, prompting Jordanian singer Hani Metwasi to defend his Best Jordanian Singer award.

After winning the Jordan Awards, the singer stated to Emirati newspaper "Al Khaleej": "I was very pleased to be announced the winner . . . I only learned about my nomination two weeks before the Awards".

Hani says the awards event takes into account certain standards in the selection of the award winners.

He added the Arab singers and actors who won awards at this event are prominent artists, such as Yahia Al Fakharani, Bassam Kousa, Sulafa Maamar, Saba Mubarak, Kathem Al Saher and Eyad Nassar.

The singer affirmed the award he won is honorary and not a monetary prize, which confirms the credibility of his win.

Metwasi, who has released three albums to date, declared he is a self-made artist.
